Wizara is one of our favorite cultural organizations in the NFT and web3 space from the Arab region. They recently organized an exhibition titled “Through the Garden of Ones and Zeroes” at the Grand Egyptian Museum, which explores the art world, especially digital art, post web3, by spotlighting the work of six artists in the fields of digital art, illustration and performance in Egypt.
The exhibition travels through different techniques and practices in world-building, and looks at the journey of artists who continue to face new questions on personal and cultural levels, as they use digital tools in uncharted territories.
Egyptian artist Ahmed El Shaer, known for his work with AI, reimagines the surrealist drawings of Abdel Hadi El-Gazzar in a virtual reality setting, while prominent Alexandria muralist and digital artist Aya Tarek presents a series of drawings inspired by the colors and patterns of a digital collectible, reflecting on her experience with NFTs and her place in the digital future.
Adham Hafez from Wizara curated the exhibition, which also features work by Dina Jereidini, Khaled ElGabry, Mariam Sadik and Omar Houssien, united by their exploration of new techniques or artistic tools in uncharted contexts.
Wizara is a project stemming from the HaRaKa art platform, focusing on exploring web3 worlds and arts resulting from experiments with emerging technologies, by organizing exhibitions and art events, and supporting artists from the region as they enter the web3 space and test its possibilities.
