Switzerland for UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) initiative, in collaboration with Tezos blockchain, NFT platform Objkt, and The Collectors Club, has launched an NFT collection titled “Nowhere to Run“. The aim is to raise funds to support UNHCR’s mission, especially to help those displaced and refugees due to climate disasters.
Ten artists contributed to the collection, which was unveiled during Art Basel week between June 10-16, before the works became available for sale on Objkt, the main NFT platform on Tezos blockchain, on June 20.
Since its launch on Objkt, the collection has achieved sales of 7,660 Tezos tokens, equivalent to approximately $5,500 USD. At least 50% of the sales from any work will be donated to UNHCR’s Climate Resilience fund, dedicated to helping those affected by climate disasters.
This campaign comes amid growing interest in using NFT collections to raise funds in response to natural and humanitarian disasters. In the Arab region over the past two years, we’ve witnessed NFT campaigns to raise donations for victims of the war on Gaza, the war in Sudan, the Turkey/Syria earthquake, and the Morocco earthquake, alongside a campaign to support the Children’s Cancer Center in Lebanon.
